Paleo meals are more than just a diet plan

A paleo diet is based on food humans ate during the Paleolithic era. Think of foods our hunter-gather ancestors ate about 10,000 years ago such as unprocessed lean meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds.

The caveman or stone-age diet, other names for the paleo diet, is high in protein and low in carbs. The diet avoids processed foods, grains and sugar.

In most cases, doing so will reduce or eliminate the consumption of preservatives, additives, artificial colors and flavors, hidden sugars, artificial sweeteners, sodium and flavor enhancers.

As a result, you eliminate toxins and increase nutrient intake.

People turn to the food of their ancestors ate to avoid processed foods, eat healthier and/or lose weight.

As farming and food preparation changed, especially over the last 100 years, or even the last 50, the body has had to digest more unfamiliar products.
