Balanced Diet

Balanced diet is important for all ‘diets’

There are many diets that have become popular in the past decade, such as the vegan and paleo diets, but there is one thing they all have in common: you still need to follow a balanced diet.

What does this mean? Put simply, it doesn’t matter what kind of diet you follow, if you’re not eating a variety of foods that are rich in nutrients, your body will be lacking the key nutrients it needs to function properly. Read on to learn more about the nutrients you need every day, and why they’re important.

What is a balanced diet?

A balanced diet is when you eat different food groups on the Food Pyramid in the right proportion such as fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy.

There are three major macronutrients — proteins, carbohydrates, and fats — and each has its own benefits and needs to be included in your diet. Proteins are good for muscle building; carbs give you energy; and fats help with brain function. As far as micronutrients go, vitamins and minerals need to be included in your diet, too.

Let’s be honest, there are lots of foods out there that aren’t going to help you get the nutrients your body needs such as burgers and chips. Sure, they might taste good in the moment, but what about when you’re tired and sluggish after an entire day without getting enough energy?salad, good eating habits and balance diet

In addition to feeling foggy or sluggish, there are other indicators that your body is crying out for nutrients. Some signs can be when hair starts falling out or skin starts breaking out. Or, when you experience bone pain or your wounds are taking longer to heal. Although it may not be tied to diet, your body may be sending you a message and a proper diet could help. Consult with your doctor if you’re experiencing symptoms.
